Play-based learning and school readiness
At Children’s Village, we follow The Creative Curriculum®, one of the most trusted, research-based early childhood programs in the nation. To ensure every child is growing, thriving, and supported at their own pace, we also use Teaching Strategies GOLD®, a nationally recognized observation-based assessment system developed by Teaching Strategies.
Commitment to excellence
As part of the Early Achievers program, we continually evaluate and improve our classrooms, teaching practices, and family partnerships. Our Salmon Creek center is proud to have earned a Level 5 Early Achievers rating — the highest possible score.
Meet Our Management Team
Kate Hale, M.Ed, Education Coordinator

I have 28 years of service at Children’s Village. I have a deep commitment to supporting children and families through education, advocacy, and trauma-informed practice. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Human Development and a Bachelor’s degree in Child and Family Studies, providing me with a strong foundation in understanding the social, emotional, and developmental needs of children. I also earned a Master’s degree in Education with a focus on Trauma and Resilience, as well as a Master’s degree in Elementary Education. With over three decades of experience, I bring extensive knowledge, compassion, and leadership to my role. I’m passionate about working with early learning professionals in creating supportive learning environments that foster growth, resilience, and academic success for every child we serve. When I’m not at work, I enjoy travel, the beach, game nights and time with my family.
Tori Garrow-Roberts, BBA, Managing Director

With over 25 years of experience in early childhood education and management, I’m passionate about creating a fun and safe environment for kids. I graduated from Clark College with a degree in Early Childhood Education, and from Warner Pacific with a BA in Business Administration, and have picked up some great training in early learning curriculum, staff development and program management along the way. At Children’s Village, I’m proud to lead an amazing team that’s all about fostering creativity and building strong foundations for every child’s future. I believe that working closely with families and our community is key to helping kids thrive. I’m also involved with the DCYF to advocate for early childhood education and make a positive impact. When I’m not at work, you can find me at my son’s baseball games, baking, or crafting, which helps me stay energetic and inspired in everything I do for children and families here at Children’s Village.

I hold my BA in Philosophy from Portland State University. I have worked in Early Childhood Education for seven years as a Center Director and educator; however, my work with children started over twenty years ago. Having a background in art, philosophy and poetry, I have always added to curriculum through creative activities which children enjoy. I have collaborated with UNICEF, organizing creative workshops for children of different ages. That project started my involvement with communities in need, working directly with them in their community spaces. As an artist my work has been exhibited worldwide. I have also published two books of poetry. I can be called “Mr. G”. I love working alongside my staff as we build relationships with your children and provide high quality care in a high quality environment. I am looking forward to working with you to support the continued growth and development of our community.
